Top-ups made with a debit or credit card from Visa or Mastercard, or via Apple Pay, usually appear instantly in your YouTrip wallet.
However, a top-up may fail, remain pending, or not reach us at all. Here are the most common reasons and what you can do next.
-
Insufficient funds
Your top-up may fail if there are not enough funds available on the card used for the payment.
What you can do :
• Check your card balance
• Try again with sufficient funds available
• Use another eligible debit or credit card
-
Expired card
The card used for the top-up may have expired.
What you can do :
• Check the expiry date of your card
• Use another valid debit or credit card
• Update the card details if you are using Apple Pay
-
Payment declined by your bank
Your top-up attempt may be declined by the card issuing bank due to security checks, spending limits, or other bank-side restrictions.
What you can do :
• Contact your card issuer to confirm why the payment was declined
• Try again later
• Use another Australia-issued Visa or Mastercard
-
Card temporarily unavailable
Your card may currently be unavailable for transactions. This can happen if the card has been marked as lost, stolen, frozen, or restricted by the issuing bank.
What you can do :
• Check the card status with your issuing bank
• Ensure the card is active and available for online transactions
• Try using another eligible card
-
Card details require verification
In some cases, the card issuer may require additional verification before allowing the payment to proceed.
What you can do :
• Confirm the card details entered are correct
• Complete any verification steps requested by your bank
• Try again once verification is completed
-
Security checks triggered
For security reasons, some transactions may not be able to proceed if certain risk checks are triggered during the payment process.
What you can do :
• Wait a while before attempting the top-up again
• Try using a different card or payment method
-
Temporary bank processing issue
Occasionally, top-ups may fail due to temporary processing issues from the issuing bank’s side.
What you can do :
• Try again after some time
• Use another eligible card if the issue persists
-
Unsupported card type
YouTrip AU only supports :
• Australia issued Visa debit or credit cards
• Australia issued Mastercard debit or credit cards
• Apple Pay top-ups (when linked to an eligible AU-issued Visa or Mastercard)
-
Pending top-up processing
Most top-ups are completed immediately, but in rare cases, they may take longer to process.
Pending transactions usually resolve within a few hours.
If your top-up remains pending for more than 24 hours, please reach out to us at customer.au@you.co.

Apple Pay top-ups (iOS users)
If you're topping up with Apple Pay, please ensure:
• The Apple Pay card is an Australian-issued Visa or Mastercard
• Your device is updated
• Your YouTrip app is on the latest version
• All required Apple Wallet permissions are enabledIf your Apple Pay top-up fails, the steps under Payment declined by your bank and Card details require verification may also apply.
